The International School of Beijing (ISB) was filled with vibrant performances, creative art, and colorful tie-dye shirts for the Elementary School (ES)’s 18th annual CASTA (Celebrate and Share the Arts) festival. There was lots of excitement in the air as this was the first time since 2019 parents got to be on campus to enjoy CASTA.
It all kicked off at 8:20 am, as ES performing ensembles performed in the ES cafeteria, this included the Beginning Wind Band, Dragon Wind Band, Junior Choir, Treblemakers, and the String Ensemble. Throughout the day, a variety of other performances from ES performing arts classes, Kindergarten through to Grade 5, were also offered.
Each ES student also had a piece of artwork from their visual arts class displayed in an art gallery format throughout the school for the ISB community to enjoy. At ISB, students are encouraged to explore their creativity and try different forms of art. For CASTA, students picked the piece they were most proud of and explained the process that went into creating their work.
ISB prioritizes students’ interest in the arts for a more well-rounded learning experience. That is why CASTA Day is a well-loved tradition at ISB as it highlights student achievements in the Performing and Visual Arts classes. It allows parents to see what their children have been learning and gives students the chance to sample their classmates’ work and develop artistic appreciation. Congratulations to all our young artists and performers on such a successful CASTA!
ISB is an extraordinary school, made so by a tradition of educational excellence spanning 40 years. Establishing, nurturing, and growing such an exceptional learning community has been and remains intentional; we work hard to build strong relationships so our learning is at its best.
