ISB’s most recent Professional Development (PD) Day highlighted the deep expertise that lives within our own teaching community. While the schedule featured regular divisional meetings and trainings, the highlight was once again Teammates Teaching Teammates (TTT), a homegrown initiative that taps into the deep expertise already within the school.
Twice a year, ISB faculty and staff share practical tools and creative ideas with one another during TTTs. On November 20, the TTTs lineup reflected the wide range of skills across campus, allowing staff to pick learning that best supported their work.
Workshops included hands-on training with online homework systems for more efficient workflows, and guided opportunities to use ISB’s state-of-the-art recording studio for student projects. Some sessions focused on designing more inclusive assessments, while others taught photography techniques to help educators document student learning with professional-quality visuals.
Other TTTs included:
- A tour of ISB’s well-resourced libraries
- Tips for coaching female athletes
- How to support University & Career Advisors as they guide students’ futures
- Workshops with visiting consultants Megan Holmstrom (math) and Paul Andersen (science)
- Leadership training in a multicultural workplace
- And plenty more peer-led inspiration
The concept of TTTs is built on the belief that the strongest learning cultures grow from within. The philosophy recognizes that every educator has expertise to share and areas to develop, and that meaningful professional learning happens when colleagues learn from one another.
For those leading sessions, TTTs are a chance to contribute their strengths to the community. For those attending, it’s a rare moment to see colleagues’ passions up close – and walk away with new strategies for student learning.
TTTs continue to bring ISB together – strengthening professional relationships and helping staff grow side-by-side as teammates.
ISB is an extraordinary school, made so by a tradition of educational excellence spanning 45 years. Establishing, nurturing, and growing such an exceptional learning community has been and remains intentional; we work hard to build strong relationships so our learning is at its best.
