On September 24, the International School of Beijing (ISB) had the privilege of welcoming world-renowned pipa master Wu Man for a transformative cross-cultural music exchange with our government affairs student ambassadors. This special event aimed to promote the spirit of fostering communication and understanding among different cultures—core values at the heart of ISB's mission.

In his opening remarks, Head of School Mr. Daniel Rubenstein highlighted ISB’s belief in the power of strong relationships and setting high expectations together. Our student ambassadors fully embodied this vision as they led the event, demonstrating thoughtful leadership and building connections across cultures. Their active participation and curiosity showcased ISB’s dedication to learning that is both challenging and joyful, filled with the freedom to explore.

Ms. Wu’s pipa performance captured students, parents and staff, and served as a powerful reminder of the ability of music to connect and inspire people. “I was deeply moved by Ms. Wu’s performance,” shared student ambassador, Jasmine G. Many other students also shared how they really enjoyed learning more about Chinese traditional culture and music through Ms. Wu’s performance and conversation with students.

This event not only enriched students’ cultural understanding but also exemplified ISB's commitment to building a challenging and joyful learning environment. It is a testament to our vision of nurturing students to develop a deep global understanding, as well as a collaborative spirit. At ISB, we remain dedicated to providing opportunities for our students to be inspired and to inspire others as they engage deeply in the world around them.
