The International School of Beijing’s (ISB) theaters have always been top places to celebrate young people’s performing arts talent.
When Kaitlin Davies, a student at ISB from 2002 to 2005, visited campus again recently to lead an alumni event, she was once again in front of an audience in one of ISB’s theaters. Remembering her time in Beijing, she said that a “highlight was performing in a dance troupe, on this incredible stage, under the lighting. At school in Wales, we dined and performed on one really terrible stage. Having this state-of-the-art theater and being able to dance on it was pretty cool.”
ISB’s whole Shunyi campus was brand-new when Kaitlin was here. The theater facilities have been brought up to the best modern standards again with facilities opened for 2020-2021 (pictured). The Elementary School (ES) Arts Center and Theater is a flexible, creative performance/practice space expressly designed to meet the needs of ES performers and audience members. The Middle School/High School Performing Arts Center includes specially designed classrooms and practice rooms (band, orchestra, choir, drama, and dance) with consideration for acoustic, lighting, and flooring requirements.
ISB is proud to be celebrating four decades of commitment to education services dedicated to Beijing’s inspiring international community. This year, everyone is invited to join in celebrating the 40th anniversary through a range of events. Check out the Celebrating 40 web page for more details.
Past and present students, parents, and staff – please send your photos and memories of ISB to celebrating40@isb.bj.edu.cn for your chance to be featured here and in the Celebrating 40 Exhibition.
