Last week was the 25th Grade 2 Circus! The Grade 2 Circus is a collaboration between visual arts, performing arts, physical education, and the Design Lab. The walls were decorated with student artwork made especially for the event. Students learned choreography to a popular song in performing arts, which was performed in the show, and they helped make some of the props used in the Circus in the Design Lab.
Students worked hard to learn skills such as jumping on pogo sticks, balancing on stilts, creating different shapes with ribbons, and so much more. One of the most important skills they learned was getting back up when they fell – especially in front of a parent audience! The Grade 2 circus is the perfect example of both challenging and joyful learning.
The very first Grade 2 Circus was held in 1998, beginning as a rite of passage when our “graduating” second grade class moved from the original ISB’s Satellite School in Lido to the main campus. The event has been held annually since then. Last week, much like 1998, the younger children looked on with stars in their eyes, knowing that their turn is coming.
We hope you enjoy the slideshow above, and the pictures from the 2001-2002 archives to the left. For plenty more pictures of the Grade 2 Circus and other ISB events, go to Vidigami.com, our very own, private media portal for school memories.
Congratulations to our Grade 2 clowns for putting on yet another entertaining show!
