The International School of Beijing (ISB) has trained, experienced tutors available free of charge as an alternative to private tutoring.
ISB’s Peer Tutoring Center is a community where diverse learners come together to achieve their potential and serve. The tutors are High School students who have taken training for their roles. They are well placed to provide tutoring as they have already experienced the curriculum and know what their younger peers need to be successful.
At ISB, there is so much challenging and joyful learning during the school day. But here and around the world, many families like to add to it through tutoring after school. In exam season right now, students are working hard in the Tutoring Center to ensure they are ready for IB and other assessments.
Students in Grades 6 through 12 can attend the Peer Tutoring Center year-round for help in all academic subjects. And there are regular opportunities for students in Grade 9 and above to become qualified tutors. Swot up on the Peer Tutoring Center with this infographic!
“In the Peer Tutoring Center, not only am I given the opportunity to assist my peers in the ISB community, but I also have the chance to seek academic support from students [as well as] mentors or teachers,” said Andrew G, Grade 10. “No matter the subject or difficulty, I find this process extremely engaging as it allows me to bond with my peers.”
According to Minjae K, also Grade 10, “The atmosphere in the Center is welcoming and comfortable, especially because it’s student-driven, allowing casual interactions between tutors and tutees… We provide concentrated, focused help for the tutee.”
