The Winter Olympics are just weeks away. While everyone is eagerly anticipating this sporting extravaganza in China’s capital, we have good news to share about International School of Beijing (ISB) students competing in an official art competition for the Games.

Back in September, the Beijing government invited ISB students aged 4 to 18 to join peers from around the world in entering artworks themed around the Games into the competition. More than 70 artists from ISB participated and their works were among the 30,000 entries from 45 countries and regions put forward for consideration by the judges.

Eleven ISB students were awarded prizes in a ceremony on December 26 at the China National Film Museum in Beijing. ISB was also honored for its outstanding organization. Media interviewed the students and their parents after the ceremony.

“Snowboarding with Olympic Spirit” by Mika K, Grade 7; “Night Sledding” by Nora Z, Grade 2; and “Beijing 2022” by Maggie L, Grade 7 will be framed and given as gifts to Winter Olympics athletes. These students recorded blessings for the athletes to be presented with their artworks.
