Covid-19 children’s book – exclusive author reading
By Sam Wong, ISB Alumni Relations, and Nick Yates, ISB Communications
Here’s something special for anyone with young children in this unusual summer of 2020. Author and International School of Beijing (ISB) alumna Dr. Claire Standley has provided an exclusive reading for the ISB community of her new book, Coronawho?
Claire Standley is a global public health researcher at Georgetown University, U.S., where she specializes in infectious disease preparedness and response. She attended ISB between 1988 and 1992, and has since lived in Pakistan, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She now resides in Heidelberg, Germany, with her husband and two young children, Elsa and Calum (with whom she is pictured).
Claire wrote Coronawho? with two friends, Dr. Hannah Smith and Dr. Eleanor Southgate, both of whom are doctors in the United Kingdom, and each also the mother of two boys, as a way of providing reassurance to their own children about all the changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Claire said she and her co-authors hope the story can provide comfort to other children and their families, both while restrictions remain in place, and also as a means of remembering this strange and challenging time in the months and years to come.
Thank you Claire, as well as all our alumni who continue to connect with and support the ISB community.
