Congratulations to our students who will graduate on Saturday, May 22! The International School of Beijing (ISB) is proud of its Seniors, who have received offers from universities worldwide. While International Baccalaureate (IB) exam results are only due in July, college acceptance notifications have been flooding in for our students as they prepare for their next steps beyond ISB.
On Monday, they were able to bask a little in the glory of their success, as ISB’s annual Seniors Parade gave the community a chance to celebrate graduating students’ achievements before they sit their exams and leave the school. The event displayed a huge amount of pride in the students – as usual, they have had offers from a wide range of institutions, and this group of Seniors has also weathered disruption from Covid-19 in the crucial later stages of their school careers.
ISB prides itself on ensuring its students find the college and course that is most appropriate for them based on their passions and talents. The wide scope of university offers and the subjects ISB graduates will be studying signals that our students are pursuing their passions at many of the world’s finest educational institutions.
This year’s college acceptances come after ISB’s High School Counseling Department was restructured for this academic year to increase student access to social-emotional services while simultaneously providing support for career and university planning. The Counseling Department now has more personnel and is split into two complementary teams of School Counselors and University and Career Advisors. ISB students looking for their perfect college have benefited from working with a dedicated University and Career Advisor.
ISB High School Principal Lorraine Wicks said, “What a joy it was to see our oldest students enjoying their Seniors Parade yesterday, sharing satisfaction in their achievements and excitement about their bright futures with the ISB community. With so many of this group having secured entrance to their dream college, this is the perfect time to congratulate them.
“At ISB, we are committed to understanding each student, how they learn best, what their passions are, and what initial ideas they have on their profession. That allows us to help students and families develop a list of colleges that are academically, culturally, and geographically appropriate for them. With the restructuring of our Counseling Department, we have been able to further deepen our guidance for students.
“Colleges around the world have once again recognized the quality of ISB students. Well done to the Class of 2021!”
Head of School Patrick Hurworth added, “In what has been another demanding and difficult year for our students, the Class of 2021 have performed admirably. They are a great credit to themselves, to their families, and to our school. Congratulations!”
